Marilyn Cachola Lucey

Engagement and Community Partnerships

Marilyn Cachola Lucey has a Master's Degree from Santa Clara University's Graduate School of Counseling Psychology and Education. She has worked in a variety of teaching, directing, and advocate roles in education, nonpublic, and private agencies. She has served on several school district committees including FICMAT, Climate, SELPA CAC, and LCAP. She successfully chaired a local parcel tax campaign and is a graduate of Leadership San Ramon Valley.

Her DEI work is informed by Racial Equity Institute's Intercultural Development Inventory, Race Forward, Courageous Conversations, ACEs Aware, and Transformational Leadership for Sustainability. She is a lifelong learner and continues her DEI professional development through the Othering and Belonging Institute at Berkeley, the Gender Spectrum Conference at St. Mary's, and the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates for effective education of students with disabilities.

She currently serves as the Commission Chairwoman of First 5 Contra Costa, California State PTA's Legislation Team, and is immediate past chair of California State PTA's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Committee.

She lives in the Bay Area with her husband and two sons and currently works as a Deputy District Director for California State Assembly, covering education, health, mental health, and human services policy areas.
